Backstory
Dreisseaux de Drelejon grew up in the Holy See of Ishgard with their parents and siblings, hailing from a minor noble house loyal to House Dzemael that is strict in its values. They are a well-mannered and kind person, though they can also be timid in certain situations - largely due to their upbringing and faith. In their youth they were placed in knight training as was Drelejon tradition, the house priding itself for its line of loyal Dzemael knights. Dreisseaux, however, possessed a fragile figure unbefitting of a gladiator and was rather unwilling to participate, landing in a quick suspension from their training. They were placed within Saint Endalim's Scholasticate instead, earning the ire of their every family member and a shifted set of strict expectations: if they could not become a knight, they were to be a clergy member.Within the school's walls they were known for their proper, polite decorum. They are a devout believer in Halone and achieved academic goals for both their cleverness and by the book following of Halonic teachings, though this did nothing to earn them the gratitude of their parents or siblings.Dreisseaux always kept up a pleasant demeanour, though their childhood was anything but, and they found themself crushed by the many unrealistic expectations of their family. Behind their gentle smile and caring personality lies a wide variety of well-hidden pains lingering from their youth, all steeped in Ishgard's flaws.Dating back to their childhood, Dreisseaux has always been adept with animals. Throughout their studies, they would spend time late at night around the chocobo stables of Ishgard to unwind. They were drawn to the Karakuls in Ishgardian paddocks and Coertha’s snowy fields. In their young adulthood, stealing away with a sack of gil taken from their family, Dreisseaux scored themself a small home away from their traditional life, in which they would have room to raise a small number of animals for themself and craft to their heart's content. After breaking away from their family’s practice, the loyal knighthood that earned them their nobility, it is questionable whether Dreisseaux deserves the title marking their noble blood. Yet, their title persists, as does Dreisseaux, existing outside of their family’s boundaries as an unconventional, craft-loving noble. House Dzemael's investment in producing talented artisans means they're not out of place at all, too. Their love for personal projects allows contributions to Ishgardian society as they so please. On a trip to the Forgotten Knight one day, Dreisseaux came across a curious Elezen that they couldn't help but approach. Though hailing from across the seas, all the way to Radz-at-Han, this Vayanardi would soon become a good friend of Dreisseaux's, one that they admired for his strength and artistic expression. The two sent each other letters with their distance, and their fondness for each other led to a deeper relationship - a loving one. The two fit so well that it's almost as if they were made for each other. Dreisseaux acts as a calm barrier, Vaya a beacon of strength - each pulling upon the other's skills and struggles.
Other
Dreisseaux has an array of hobbies, but they especially enjoy botany, singing, reading, dancing, weaving, and cooking (in which they typically follow Ishgardian recipes). They spend a significant amount of time gardening and gathering all types of plants. Clothing design is a relatively new hobby - now free from familial expectations, it's one they're slowly learning, in particular how to design fashion of the more feminine kind. Cafés are a favourite of theirs for the cozy atmosphere, and they are easily pleased by tea and pastries. Of their book preference, they frequently read sappy romance and a lot of religious text.Dreisseaux's first language is Old Elezen, having learned Eorzean Common second. They spoke Old Elezen at home around their traditional family, and as such their Eorzean Common is spoken with a heavy accent. They speak in a relatively distinct manner otherwise (avoiding contractions and favouring politeness above all else) and like to call their friends "dear/dearest (name)".A small, fluffy karakul dubbed "Guimauve" seems to frequently follow them around.
Hooks
Hobbies: Any mentioned hobbies and interests, in which they’re easy, passionate company to engage with. They occasionally run a market stall, and take crafting orders.Upbringing: Nobles and other similarities, such as Scholasticate alumni and Dzemael associates. Having grown up attending formal practices, church schooling, and gladiator training – alongside being related to many Dzemael knights – any Ishgardian could find some form of familiarity in Dreisseaux should they share a position. House Drelejon is a small house of minor noble status, and it is very unlikely a character would recognise them by name alone.Other: Dreisseaux is very kind, and could get along well with others.
